Experimental study on shear performance of RC beams strengthened with NSM CFRP prestressed concrete prisms

چکیده

This paper presents an experimental investigation of the shear performance RC beams strengthened with near surface mounted (NSM) carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) prestressed concrete prisms (PCPs). The behaviour can be affected by several design variables. In this research, effect following parameters were considered: prestress level, inclination and spacing CFRP-PCPs, material type prism. control beam had conventional steel reinforcement only while other seven CFRP-PCPs varying mentioned above. All tested under monotonic loading until they reached failure load. results showed that NSM strengthening technique improves effectively. applied at 45° more efficient in improving capacity compared to vertical CFRP-PCPs. deformation enhanced increase prestressing levels CFRP rods decrease spacing. modes influenced mainly Moreover, prism little influence on effectiveness strengthening. analytical model presented was developed estimate contribution found predict well.

experimental and analytical investigation of behavior of rc beams strengthened by prestressed cfrp straps using nsm method

the current study is focused on strengthening of reinforced concrete (rc) beams using cfrp straps installed in pre-cut grooves. the method which is referred as near surface mounted (nsm) benefits considerable advantages in comparison with the conventional externally bonded reinforcement (ebr) method and provides better normal and shear stress transfer between the frp and concrete substrate. the...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Two Fixed-End RC Beams Strengthened With CFRP Bars in NSM Method

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material is currently being produced in different configurations and widely used to strengthen and retrofit concrete structures and bridges. It is also possible to apply other strengthening methods without changing the appearance or the dimensions of the structure. Near Surface Mounted (NSM) is a recent strengthening method using CFRP bars (rods or laminate strips...

Fatigue Assessment Model of Corroded RC Beams Strengthened with Prestressed CFRP Sheets

This paper presents a fatigue assessment model that was developed for corroded reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened using prestressed carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets. The proposed model considers the fatigue properties of the constituent materials as well as the section equilibrium. The model provides a rational approach that can be used to explicitly assess the failure mod...

The Tension-Stiffening Contribution of NSM CFRP to the Behavior of Strengthened RC Beams

Tension stiffening is a characteristic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) beams which is directly affected by the bond-slip property of steel bar and concrete interfaces. A beam strengthened with a near-surface mounted (NSM) technique would be even more affected by tension stiffening, as the NSM reinforcement also possess a bond-slip property. Yet assessing how much the tension stiffening of ...

Finite Element Modelling of Steel-concrete Composite Beams Strengthened with Prestressed Cfrp Plate

This paper presents results from Finite Element Modelling (FEM) of steel-concrete composite beams strengthened with prestressed Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) plate. For the purpose of this study, three beams were strengthened using prestressed CFRP plate with three different levels of induced prestressing force. The models were developed using ANSYS FE package. The results of an experi...
